And I remember that during those days, I became adept to the technical operation of the equipment but there was none for the creative side. I didn't know anything about composition, making my photos <a href="http://dodongflores.multiply.com/photos/album/5" target="_blank">mere snapshots</a>. Yet the fun was still there and I indulged myself into buying just about every piece of equipment I had been able to buy during those hunger days in my life.<img src="http://images.dodongflores.multiply.com/image/4/photos/31/500x500/25/Canoneos750qd.jpg?et=luWBg9Fl62tjdVT15ePmNA" align="left"> I realized such dedication paid off. I chanced upon a very satisfying hobby and I am taking better photos than I ever had. Joining <a href="http://www.myislandsphilippines.net/" target="_blank">My Islands Philippines</a> is very rewarding that if I had to look back to where I started, I can see I've gone this far. I meet a lot of very nice and good people all over the Philippines and all across the globe who share the same passion and interest with me. More importantly, the site helped me immensely to develop my creativity. In the end, the highest compliment I can pay for myself is a new digital SLR - thus, the title for this site... My first SLR since 1988 until the earlier of 2005 <hr> About the Masthead design: Featured in my banner is a photo of two Cebu Pacific flight stewardess during one of my travel photography stint last July of 2006. The photo was shoot at 300mm focal length, handheld, with shutterspeed of 1/80sec at F/5.6 F-stop to compensate low-light condition, ISO setting is 1600 to compensate camera shake (see the high resolution photo <a href="http://dodongflores.multiply.com/photos/photo/22/7" target="_blank">here</a>). Far left is the photo of my digital SLR during its stock form. First thing that we did is visit the <a target="_blank" href="http://www.greenpeace.org/international/">Greenpeace</a> <a target="_blank" href="http://www.greenpeace.org/seasia/en/greenpeace-photo-contest">photo exhibit</a> found at the second floor. Highly regarded lecturer/photographer and MIP fellow GM Sabado aka Doc Ger participated the event. My mobile phone camera quickly captured my girlfriend's moment while staring at Doc Ger's entry. Since the photos in the exhibit are for votation, we had to choose and vote for the photo that best suited for the theme and criterion of Greenpeace. My girlfriend and I ended up voting for a photograph featuring a boatman who is using bamboo raft to transport goods along the river. She too must have lost her signal in Kidapawan.We passed by Jose Mari Chan's asucarera before we reached the city proper. When the mall closed at 7pm, I sent her to SM Megamall bus stop so she could get her bus ride going to Valenzuela. I supposed to be sending her home but instead told me to take also my ride going back to Antipolo. Her contractual job in SM Marilao expired last December 31 so my girlfriend and I promised her a blow-out. Ang gusto niya ay outdoor activity as it is her innermost desire to go places na hindi niya nagawa since she arrived Manila.My contagious wanderlust didn't spare Nene at gusto na rin niya ang sumama sa akin sa mga lakwatsa ko.We choose Tagaytay because it's near and besides, Jovy and Nene have their cousin there who is managing a German restaurant catering to foreign and domestic tourists. Malou was very excited after she learned we're going out.Jovy asked me to spend the New Year's Eve in our house. She has two reasons for such invitation: 1) I have nowhere to go 2) so we can leave for Tagaytay very early the next day.
